It has not been a complete month yet since the grand event of VCT 2023 culminated and players are already looking forward to VCT 2024.
In the last 2 two weeks, I’ve seen many aspiring new eSport players buy Immortal Valorant accounts in order to save their time and make it to the top as soon as possible. Even though Challengers hasn’t started yet, these aspiring Pro Valorant players are already seeing themselves winning it!
Unlike former Valorant tournaments, this time VCT 2024 will feature several modifications to cater to the game’s rising popularity. From a brand-new venue location and new team registrations to tournament game formats and the start date, in this article, we will dig deeper into everything you need to know about Riot Game’s upcoming year-long event.
VCT 2024 Format
Unlike previous Valorant Champions Tour events, VCT 2024 is partitioned into 3 distinct categories: Premier, Challengers, and International. While Premier acts as the entry gateway, Challengers is the forward stepping stone to the grand Champions 2024 event and International is the place for the inevitable clash of the best Valorant teams from every region.
Speaking of regions, there is a new “China” region joining the official Valorant league, and this raises the total Valorant league tally to 4: Americas, Pacific, EMEA, and China. Moreover, VCT 2024 will also see the return of the much-cherished Championship Points (Championship Points were not available in VCT 2023). Although the complete list of venue locations has not been determined yet, we know for sure that the two International Valorant Masters will take place in Madrid this March and Shanghai this May.
Valorant Premier
Valorant Premier is an all-new addition to Valorant and is open to all. Any team can participate in it and get to compete in matches. As such, it is the perfect opportunity for new Valorant players to make a name for themselves in the eSports world.
Valorant Premier is divided into 3 sections with 2 chances for promotion. The first event will kick off this Jan and the second event will succeed the first one in Feb. The winners will make it to Valorant Masters while the bottom teams will be relegated to the next Valorant Premier event which will also initiate the next new VCT 2025 season.
Valorant Challengers
Valorant Challengers are the regional leagues that will feature the best teams from each of the 4 regions. This tournament will be segmented into three phases: February to April, May to August, and October to December. Additionally, each phase of Valorant Challengers will also consist of three tournaments, called Challengers 1, 2, and 3; and the top teams will get a placement in Valorant Masters (Madrid)
Valorant International
Continuing with the flow, Valorant International consists of Valorant Masters, Valorant Last Chance Qualifiers, Valorant Champions, as well as Valorant Game-Changers Championship.
- Valorant Masters tournaments are that part of Valorant International which will determine the top teams from each region and will be allotted Championship points based on their performance. In all of 2024, there will be 2 Valorant Masters events, one in Madrid and the other in Shanghai. While Masters Madrid (March 2024) will feature 8 teams, Master Shanghai (May 2024) will feature 12 teams.
- Valorant Last Chance Qualifiers is yet another shot for those Valorant Masters’ participating teams that couldn’t make it to the qualifying stage for the Champions event. As per the schedule, there will be four regional Last Chance Qualifiers in July 2024, where teams from each of the 4 regions will compete for a spot in the Champions event. Only 1 more team from each region can qualify.
- Valorant Champions is the grand finale of the VCT season and will feature the top 16 teams in the world that will compete for the title of Valorant World Champions. There will be 4 teams from Masters Madrid, 8 teams from Masters Shanghai, and 4 more teams from Last Chance Qualifiers. As before, teams will be evaluated based on their Championship Points.
- As for Valorant Game Changers, it will take place after the Valorant Champions grand finale. Valorant Game Changers is basically a series of tournament matches that will allow women and other marginalized genders to take part and feel supported in the eSport gaming world.
