Haldir is in the middle of lower-tier Commanders with above average stats for Speed. Haldir is also one of the iconic characters from LotR lore and folklore amongst the Elven race. Haldir is Tier 1 Commander in LOTR Rise To War and the first thing that you need to notice and acknowledge is his base trait which is “Balanced”.
The ”Balanced” trait will give Haldir +25 (Commander) Might, +25 (Commander Speed), and +2 Skill points. Haldir’s highest stat is Might. Might increase Physical damage dealt with enemy units and commanders. Every time when your Commander levels up you will have a skill point to spend in their skill tree. There are three main skills and thus three different focus points in Haldir’s skill tree which we will talk about here.
Note that each of these three main skills has two additional skills connected to them which you will unlock upon leveling the main skill to level 2. On Commander Respect level 1 you will have two starting main skills.
Haldir is one of many Tier 1 commanders from good side in LOTR Rise To War same as Dwalin and Eowyn.
You can compare Haldir performance to that of other commanders by visiting our LOTR Rise To War Tier List.
Respect level 0 Build
The first one of two starting main skills is “Marchwarden of Lorien”. “Marchwarden of Lorien” skill when active deals +% Physical damage against one enemy target and 1 allied unit will avoid next damage received. Additionally “Marchwarden of Lorien” skill at max level gives Haldir +15 Focus points.
This is a decent skill against a single target enemy (ideally enemy Commander). Note that the “Marchwarden of Lorien” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
As mentioned above upon leveling the “Marchwarden of Lorien” skill to level 2 you will unlock its two additional skills which you will be able to level up. These two skills are:
- Cull the Weak: (Against the enemy target with the lowest Defence) Deals % Physical damage. This skill has 1 round cooldown.
- Elite: (Commander) Might + % and (Commander) Focus.
This skill tree should be your focus point in the early game, we highly recommend maxing out “Marchwarden of Lorien” and “Cull the Weak”.
Naturally effective stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
The second main skill is “Guide” which will give all allied units a bonus +% of Physical damage for the first 2 rounds. Now, this skill is very useful and you should definitely spend some points on it to get that extra Physical damage burst in the early game.
Note that “Guide” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. Additionally on max level of “Guide” skill, while damage is increased, the army gains Stun immunity. So not only is it useful for extra bursts but your army will also become Stun immune. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Guide” to level 2 are:
- Armed Escort: (Against 1 enemy target) Deals % Physical damage, ) [1 Allied unit Recover % HP, effect modified by Focus stat] . This skill has 1 round cooldown. Very good skill for extra damage and some HP recovery.
- Foresight: (First 4 rounds) [All allied units] +% chance to ignore enemies’ avoidance status each round.
Naturally effective stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 3 Build
Upon reaching Respect level 3 with Haldir you will be able to unlock and level up his third main skill called “Silvan Elf”. “Silvan Elf ” will give Haldir buff for which Attacks will deal additional % Physical damage as well as % Poison damage. This is a skill tree to focus on in mid-game and advance up until late game with it.
Note that “Silvan Elf ” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of “Silvan Elf ” skill, Poison damage will last for 2 rounds. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Silvan Elf” to level 2 are:
- Beast Training: (Beasts) Recovers % HP per round. It is recommended to max this skill for optimal best mid-game build since at max level it will be 100% HP recovery rate.
- Forest Agility: (Allied Ranged units) Has a % chance of attacking twice per round. This skill might sound good but you should avoid it.
It is highly recommended to max out Silvan Elf, if needed reset skill points if you put too many in “Guide” and spend them in this main skill + “Beast Training” Eagle units work wonderfully with Haldir and these skills.
Naturally effective stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 5 Build
And finally, upon reaching Respect level 5 with Haldir you will be able to unlock and level up his fourth main skill called “Galadhrim” which will give a buff to all allied Ranged units. Allied Ranged units Physical damage +% (effect modified by Speed stat). This shouldn’t be your focus point unless you want to go for Ranged units build.
Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of “Galadhrim” skill, Haldir will receive additional +15 Might points. Note that “Galadhrim” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Galadhrim” to level 2 are:
- Fortify: (While defending) [All allied units] Physical damage received -%. This is an amazing skill that might be worth spending 2 points in “Galadhrim: just to gain access to this skill. Your units will gain Defence buff whenever you defend, whether it’s siege or on an open field.
- Shield Training: (Ranged Units) Damage received.
Naturally effective stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
