Sometimes, we need a change of scenery from land biomes. To do so, we either go underground or undersea. Undersea biomes all belong to the ocean group. Among the ocean biomes, the lukewarm ocean is the most common we can find unless our Minecraft seed is quite low in temperature. So, let’s check out what a lukewarm ocean biome can hold.
Ocean
Oceans are large water surfaces that can often differ harshly in appearance and materials they contain. This stems from their variety, which is tied to certain qualifiers. These qualifiers are temperature and depth. The higher-temperature oceans vary from low-temperature ones greatly. Even those oceans of the same depth will result in different biomes.
The differences can be seen in the color of the oceans alone. With that, we can also see obvious examples of differences, like blocks and vegetation changing. With that in mind, let’s take a deeper look into the specifics of the ocean biome.
Lukewarm ocean biome
A lukewarm ocean in Minecraft is usually more shallow than others. Therefore, these biomes in the Overworld will usually be found sooner than other oceans unless the area around the place is really low. Lukewarm oceans are the lushest out of the lot.
Once below the surface, we’ll see sand covering the bottom with many kelps and seaweeds at the bottom. These plants can get quite dense but will usually be easy to see through. Even some of the thickest sea vegetation can be maneuvered easier than regular forests.
It’s possible to find a unique structure below the surface. This structure is underwater ruins. Exploring through it will usually yield at least one hidden chest. This chest can have anything from coal to armor, making them a worthwhile reward for exploration. In its construction, underwater ruins can contain terracotta, andesite, diorite, granite, and bricks. With those, we can build our own structures easily.
Lukewarm ocean Mobs
There are quite a few unique mobs below the surface, especially with all the diverse types of fish available. Tropical fish, cod, squids, and dolphins are present throughout the water. They can usually be snatched up quite quickly, at least the smaller fish can, resulting in quick stacks of food for the player.
Standard mobs will spawn here too, with one unique mob type. That being drowned, which can be only found underwater. These come in multiple types. Among them, the most dangerous ones are those with tridents, being able to kill players easily.
Standard ore present
In the ocean, we can find a couple of ore types that can greatly help to craft items. They scale in rarity and will depend on the randomly generated blocks but should appear at least in small quantities.
Coal and iron ore are bound to be the most common ones. Followed by copper, gold, redstone, and diamond ore. All of these together spice up the sandy floor of the ocean.
With all of these ores, we’ll be prepared to craft some armor and items that will come in handy while exploring other biomes.
