Minecraft Slime Guide, Attacks and Drops

Minecraft Slime Guide

Slimes are a common enemy in video games. Their simple design and goopy appearance have become staples of many genres. However, Minecraft Slimes manage to stay distinct in this category. While some connecting factors like splitting into smaller ones remain, Minecraft Slime has more to offer.

Slime

Slimes are simple creatures that will constantly bounce around in Minecraft. Has the very simple shape of a cube and a green, slightly transparent body, making this mob easy to identify and even easier to spot due to the uniqueness of its appearance. Additionally, we have quite a bit of time to react to any Slime spotted at a distance as they move in jumps, allowing us more leeway between each movement.

Slime Behavior

A Slime hops around as a form of movement. These hops happen every half a second to a second and a half. They are capable of swimming which makes them a bit more dangerous. Though they can still drown, this mob can also climb ladders despite having no limbs.

They will seek out players in a certain area around it. Slimes jump less often when searching but become far more frequent in jumps when entering combat. It’s a sudden and hard shift that you should be careful about.

It’s important to note that the size of the Slime determines the damage, maximum health, and jump distance of the mob. The smaller they become, the weaker the Slimes get to a point where the smallest Slime cannot even damage the player.

Each time a larger Slime is killed, it spawns up to four new ones. These split Slimes will be smaller and deal far less damage. Overall, this part of the Slime is the most troublesome to players.

Slime Blocks

There are also slime blocks that act as storage and as bouncy blocks that can negate falling damage. The slime blocks can be crafted from slimeballs dropped by Slimes. They are very useful for funny combinations like crafting a trampoline below a big fall which can aid us in traversing certain areas. The slime block is useful and probably the item we’ll be crafting from Slime.

Slime Attacks

The Slime has a very simple attack in Minecraft. It only requires them to connect with the player. A player will usually be squished from above. They are decently strong if the player is attacked by a larger Slime. A big one will deal 4 damage to the player, while a medium one will inflict 2 damage to them on normal difficulty. Small ones will deal 0 damage no matter the difficulty we select.

Slime Drops

A Slime will drop slimeballs upon being killed. Slimeball drops depend on the size of the Slime itself. A Slime of size 1 drops up to two slimeballs. The number of slimeballs dropped in Minecraft can be increased up to 5, going up by 1 for each level of the Looting enhancement.

Should the Slime be killed by a frog, it will not drop a slimeball. Keeping an eye out for nearby frogs when farming slimeballs is important to do.
