In the Sims 4 world, time ticks away just like it does in real life, with Sims growing from babies to old timers. If you’ve got a Sim you’re particularly fond of and you’re not ready to move on from their current life phase, you’ve got options to keep them just the way they are.
Methods to Stop Aging
Using Game Settings
The simplest way to keep your Sims from aging is through the game settings. Here’s how you do it:
- Accessing the Game Settings: Initiate this process by clicking on the three dots located in the upper right-hand corner of your game screen.
- Age Control Options: Here, you will encounter multiple choices that grant control over the aging process:
- Active Household Aging: This option allows you to freeze time for the household you’re currently playing.
- Non-active Household Aging: If you prefer other Sims in the world to age but not yours, this is your go-to option.
- Global Aging Control: An overarching control, this ensures that every Sim, be it in your household or elsewhere, remains ageless.
- Storyline Continuation: The cool part? Your game’s story goes on like nothing’s changed.
Ensuring a Sim Remains in a Specific Life Stage
Got a favorite life stage? You can keep your Sim there forever. Just do this:
- Initiate Game Options: Click those three dots again or just press escape.
- Dive into “Game Options”: Now, head on over to the next part.
- Access “Gameplay” Settings: This is where the age-freezing action is.
- Age Regulation: Look for “Auto Age Played Sims” and flip that to “No”.
- Save Your Preferences: Don’t forget to hit “Apply Changes” to lock it all in.
Now, your Sim will stay in their current stage without dealing with the drama of getting older.
Using In-game Items to Revert or Prolong Age
The Sims 4 also has some cool in-game items for age control:
Potion of Youth
This potion rolls back the clock to the start of your Sim’s current life stage.
- Getting It: Rack up those satisfaction points and buy it from the reward store.
- Using It: Find it in your Sim’s inventory, have them drink it, and bam, they’re younger.
Essence of Life from a Cow Plant
This one’s a bit out there but stick with me.
- Growing a Cow Plant: You’ll need one of these bad boys on your lot.
- The Essence Gathering: After the Cow Plant eats a Sim (yeah, really), you can milk it.
- Reaping the Benefits: Drinking the milk extends your Sim’s life.
Just a heads up, the whole Cow Plant thing is a bit dark, so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
