Minecraft Creeper Guide

Minecraft Creeper Guide

Among the recognizable things in Minecraft, Creepers take the first spot. They are quickly associated with the game by their blocky design and recognizable silhouette. Even people without experience with the game will quickly note them as something out of Minecraft. Below, we will see how Minecraft Creeper acts in the game itself.

Creeper

The most recognizable mob of Minecraft, Creeper, has been around since the game’s early days. A unique mob with its terrifying sound effect often signaling either death of the player or the destruction of our early houses, Creeper is still iconic to this day.

A unique trait of a Creeper mob is the fact that they explode. This explosion will happen when they enter a certain range away from the player. From this point on, they start flashing white. After a few seconds, the Creeper will detonate, dealing heavy damage in an area.

A Creeper will regularly spawn with other mobs, provided it’s either nighttime or if there’s ample darkness. As with all others, a Creeper will suffer damage in the daytime which can prevent its explosion. Otherwise, killing a creeper quickly will prevent detonation, potentially saving your life.

Amplified Creeper

A Creeper can get hit by lightning. Upon being hit by one it turns into an amplified Creeper. These have a much bigger radius. Standard explosions Creepers cause have a power of 3. Charged Creepers have double the power, causing an explosion with a power of 6.

These explosions are more powerful than TNT explosions. Additionally, charged Creepers will deal more damage if you are close to them. So keep an eye out for these charged Creepers, or they could quickly kill you even later in the game.

Creeper Behavior

Creepers have quite a simple behavior cycle. A Creeper, getting a line of sight on a player, will approach closer. Once within detonation range, it will start to count down for 1.5 seconds while flashing white. If the line of sight is broken, a Creeper will stop. Sometimes this can be used against Creepers by putting down blocks that will obscure the player.

Creeper Loot

A creeper can drop a few different items when killed. Among these is gunpowder which can be used for crafting important items. These include flint, which can be used for lighting fires.

Creepers are also the main source of music discs in the world of Minecraft. A Creeper has a chance to drop one of the music discs. To drop a music disc, a Creeper has to be killed by a skeleton or stray. The player can do this by positioning a Creeper in the line of their arrows.

That isn’t all in terms of Creeper loot. Another item may drop if a charged Creeper detonates and kills other mobs. That being the head of one of the mobs. Putting this head as a helmet reduces the detection range from those specific mobs by 50%. For example, wearing a zombie’s head will make zombies less likely to attack you until you get close.
