Minecraft is a rather old game; seeing the same cows, chickens and pigs can get repetitive. Minecraft is just too massive of a game and if you’re a Minecraft veteran like me, you’ll want to install various mods that will bring in new animal species. Hostile, neutral or friendly, whether on land or not, I promise you that you’ll have plenty of fun reading this article and even more fun playing with these mods!
I don’t think there’s any point prolonging this intro any further, let’s get straight to the mods:
Untamed Wilds

Untamed Wilds introduces a wide range of new creatures, some hostile, others neutral, and those who can be tamed. Have you ever wanted to befriend a tiger? Well, thanks to this mod, you can. You can also tame bears, but if you don’t have a treat for them they might swipe your face off!
But exactly how many creatures are there? I’m happy you asked since I have compiled a list of every animal featured in this mod:
- Bears – 8 species: polar bears, brown bears, cave bears, giant pandas, sun bears, spectacled bears, black bears, blind cave bears
- Shark – 10 species in total, some are neutral and some will hunt for you
- Arowana – 6 species, they reside in tropical waters and are capable of laying
- Big Cats – 7 species, some of which can be tamed when they’re still cubs
- Giant Salamander – 3 species, they’re usually on the coastline and will gladly swallow chickens in one gulp
- Trevally – 5 species, serve mostly as decorative fishes
- Ocean Sunfish – 2 species, hard to exactly call this thing a “fish”
- Hippo – There’s only one variant, they will only act hostile if you invade their territory or attack them
- Aardvark -I don’t know what to call these things, I didn’t even know that such animals existed in real life matter of fact, but they’re kinda cute ngl
- Giant Clams – they drop pearls&serve as decorations
- Snakes – 17 species of different, colorful snakes that can be deadly
- Softshell Turtle – spawn mostly in tropical areas, 7 species in total
- Tarantula – I think they’re self-explanatory. They hate everyone and love to fight among themselves!
As you can see, this mod is filled with many magnificent animals that you can either run away from or befriend&keep as pets. This mod is totally worth getting and it will most definitely enhance your gameplay!

De-Extinction
De-Extinction brings back animals that went extinct, unfortunately, only In Minecraft. The majority of them are land animals, but there are also some magnificent, differently-sized water species that you might encounter throughout your journey.
The animations seem well made and the animals look realistic, by far, my favorite animal is the water creature called Pliosaurus – it’s massive, intimidating and it’s going to mesmerize you with its smooth movements. Hell of a mod!

Alex’s Mobs
There was a guy named Alex and he decided to add a Blobfish to Minecraft. He somehow managed to turn the ugliest fish ever into a relatively adorable sea creature. I bet that’s fascinating to you and all but this mod has to offer other creatures, the infamous Cachalot Whale, for example. It’s probably the biggest creature in this mod but my favorite one has to be the Cave Centipede – it’s a complete nightmare to encounter this thing in a dark cave, not only because it’s terrifying but also because it’s gonna kill you in a few hits!

Contained Extinction
Dinosaurs. We all wish they didn’t go extinct but at least we get to enjoy them in Minecraft. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be ripped apart by a bunch of little raptors? Or a massive Tyrannosaurus Rex? Frankly, some of these creatures look truly spectacular and make Minecraft seem like a never-ending Jurassic Park.
You won’t quickly grow tired of these magnificent creatures because the mod’s designer clearly put a lot of care into their creation. worth getting!

Mowzie’s Mobs
We’ve discussed a lot of interesting mods, but this one really stands out since it adds fantasy creatures to a variety of biomes that may either kill you or mesmerize you with their appearance. There are a total of 7 creatures, but my favorites are Fooliath, Ferrous, and Frostmaw because they look quite unique and can prove to be deadly!

Creatures and Beasts
With this mod, you can expect to see some harmless little creatures that won’t do any harm to you, as well as dangerous beasts that will rip out your spinal cord – Yetis, for example. They might seem intimidating and all, but you can still tame them with a few melon slices and even breed them with the help of berries. You can also expect some weird lava tortoises, they are passive and you can place a furnace on top of them to cook food – sounds like animal exploitation but they don’t seem to mind…
Great mod that’s unique and fun to play. You can expect new creatures in the Nether, The End, and the normal world. Totally worth getting it!

Better Animals Plus
I think I’ve described this mod in one of my previous articles but it’s worth another mention. What you can expect here is a long list of animals that differ in size and behavior. There won’t be any dinosaurs or fantasy mobs, it’s not that kind of mod.
One of the most epic creatures is probably the Colossal Squid, which will just make your jaw drop with its size. Here’s a picture:
Just one of more than 35 creatures, keep in mind. You will also see new bird species sitting on trees, multi-colored butterflies flying together – just tons of cool content!
