Minecraft Endermite Guide, Attacks and Drops

Minecraft Endermite Guide

Mobs in Minecraft usually fall into two groups, passive or hostile. These specifications determine how mobs will initially act toward the player. Should a hostile mob see the player, it will attack. Among the many hostile mobs, Endermite is the least mentioned one. There’s a good reason for that, which we will elaborate on below with a Minecraft Endermite mob overview.

Endermite

Endermite in Minecraft is a small mob that can appear as a consequence of throwing an ender pearl, more on that above. An Endermite is among the rarer mobs due to its unique spawning method. Once they spawn, these mobs pose a moderate amount of issues, unless there’s an Enderman nearby.

Endermen are hostile to Endermites and will attack them on sight. If the two do interact, it can pose a good opportunity for the player to either get a few hits in on the Enderman while it’s distracted or get away from the situation. The Endermite may try to pursue the player but they aren’t too fast, making it possible to avoid them.

Ender pearl

To even spawn an Endermite, we will need an ender pearl. The Endermite will only spawn from a pearl thrown onto the ground. Even then, there’s only a 5% chance to spawn an Endermite when throwing a pearl. When it spawns, the Endermite will appear in the spot the player is in, becoming hostile.

Seeing how ender pearl’s primary use isn’t even tied to this effect, it’s rare that we will see an Endermite even spawn. If they do, it will be during our process of trying to open a portal to the End with ender pearls and eyes of enders.

This infrequency will make any following interaction a lot more rare. However, it can be interesting to try them out or attempt to find benefit from a seemingly benign mechanic.

Endermite Behavior

As noted above, Endermites don’t only interact with the player character in Minecraft. While they will get attacked by Endermen on sight, they can also attack other mobs. If any mob hits Endermite with an attack, the creature will retaliate.

This is a rare interaction in general due to the frequency of Endermite’s spawn. However, it’s nonetheless an important one to note as it can come into play occasionally.

Endermite itself isn’t too strong. It will deal 2 damage with every attack, a value that only gets slightly higher if we switch the game to hard mode. Otherwise, the mob will be rather easy to deal with.

This weak nature makes it more of a nuisance than a proper threat. Spawning in the player’s location also aids this, as the Endermite can spook the player. With 8 points of health, it shouldn’t be too difficult to kill Endermites either way. Players with stronger weapons could take them down in a single hit.

Endermite Drops

An underwhelming threat will have an underwhelming reward in Minecraft. Endermite only drops 3 experience when slain and nothing else. The rare spawn and poor reward make them more of an interesting detail than a considerable hostile mob.
