Minecraft Husk Guide, Attacks and Drops

Minecraft Husk Guide

There are plentiful variant mobs in Minecraft. Most present ones are tied to two base mobs, zombie and skeleton. These variants usually have some extra traits to them. One of these is Husk which we will go over today in Minecraft Husk overview.

Zombie

In terms of mobs, we will most frequently see zombies due to their spawn chance. Throughout the overworld, we can see zombies spawn and try to take on the player. Zombies will simply run toward the player and swing their fists or weapons at us.

The extent of their tactics is pretty low, but they still pose a danger, especially if there are multiples. However, zombies won’t spawn in certain biomes. Instead, we will see their variants crop up. One of those is Husks.

Husk

The Husks in Minecraft are zombie variants that spawn in deserts. These scorching hot biomes will contain no zombies, as Husks replace them entirely. They have a different appearance from a standard zombie. A Husk’s skin is greyish brown, and they wear scraps of clothing. The Husk is otherwise similar in model to the zombie, overlapping in size.

However, Husks have a unique trait. They cannot burn in sunlight, which means it’s possible to encounter a few of them during the day if they persist throughout the night. This trait alone makes Husks more troublesome to deal with, as it takes away the option from the player to just run in the sun until all monsters drop dead.

Husk Attack

Similar to zombies in Minecraft, Husks attack with their fists. Hitting the player for 3 damage on normal difficulty and inflicting the Hunger condition. This condition will make the player’s hunger meter deplete much faster, leading to potential death from hunger. It’s far more dangerous than the damage itself.

If the Husk holds any item, it will strike with it instead of its melee attack. This does not cause Hunger conditions but may deal more damage. The overall danger of these mobs usually scales based on the item they hold, especially if they get a sword.

Husk Behavior

The behavior of a Husk is standard for the most part. These mobs will run at the target and attack. The uniqueness of their actions comes from interactions with different mobs. For example, husks will stomp on any turtle eggs they see and pursue wandering travelers from further away.

Lastly, a Husk submerged in water for 30 seconds will start turning into a zombie. After 30 seconds, the transformation will take another 15 to complete. Should that zombie remain in the water for 30 seconds more, it will start turning into a Drowned.

Husk Drops

Husks drop rotten meat like zombies, dropping from 0 to 2 stacks of it. If Looting is available, the number goes up for every level of Looting, up to 5 in Minecraft.

Iron ingot, carrot, and potato may also drop when a Husk is killed. This drop is much rarer, only having a 2.5% chance tied to it. Of course, Looting will affect this drop chance by 1% for each stack.

Any item wielded by Husk will also drop, in the condition they were in while Husk was wielding it.
