The consistent spawns of odd, smaller mobs can often be expected in the Nether. This place is ripe with unique mobs that are present throughout the biome. All of them are potentially dangerous, leading to a lot of problems. Piglins are numerous in the Nether and are mobs with a few interesting behaviors. Let’s look into said behaviors, gauge them and give some guidelines about them in the Minecraft Piglin overview.
Piglin
Piglins are an interesting type of mob in Minecraft. Piglins look like humanoid pigs with brown clothes. While regularly hostile, they can be made passive or even bartered with if the player has at least one piece of gold armor. The bartering is done through gold ingots and is mostly random. Dropping one item from a pretty varied chart.
These books include an enchanted book, iron boots, potions, leather, and many other items. They have varied chances of dropping too, so none is guaranteed. Be careful though, and child Piglins will not trade any items to the player, instead running away as soon as they take the player’s gold ingot.
Piglins can spawn with a mix of items. They can have a golden item piece, a golden sword, or a crossbow. If the Piglin holds any of these items, they have a chance to drop them once killed. Of course, as with most other mobs, the baby versions spawn without equipment.
Piglin Behavior
These mobs spawn in the Nether, where they can appear in groups of two to four. The most common spawn for such groups will be in the nether wastes and the crimson forest, with added spawn location being bastion remnants.
As noted before, these mobs can spawn with certain equipment, specifically 50% to spawn with a sword or crossbow, while they have a 40% chance to spawn with an armor piece.
Minecraft Piglins act as regular villagers for the most part. Being able to open doors and walking about but being incapable of interacting with more complex doors. A Piglin will flee from zombified Piglins and Zoglins on sight, while their babies run from Withers and Wither Skeletons too.
Aside from the aforementioned gold interaction, Piglins will be regularly hostile to the player. The Piglin can be provoked even further depending on the interactions player has with them. Aside from not wearing armor, attacking another Piglin will aggravate them, as well as breaking golden blocks.
Piglin Attacks
Piglin attacks are regular in nature. Using either their fists or one of the weapons they spawn with. Oftentimes, the crossbow ones can be more dangerous due to attacking once every 2 seconds, but either can cause issues when a player is caught off guard. Their damage will be equal to the equipped item, which makes it troublesome to run into ones that spawn armed.
Piglin Drops
Piglins have no unique drops in Minecraft. They will only drop equipment if they spawn with it. This also isn’t guaranteed, as the adults have an 8.5% chance of dropping their item. Increased by 1% for each level of Looting. They can collect pork chops though, which can make for interesting interactions.
