Vindicator in Minecraft

Vindicator in Minecraft

Minecraft is full of plentiful mobs. These vary from peaceful to hostile. As we engage with the world more, we will find quite a few. Today, we’ll discover about a hostile group called the illagers and about one of their strongest mobs called Vindicator. We will be talking about the Minecraft Vindicator.

Villagers

The villagers are commonly found around villages. They come with a few special things to consider. The most basic one being loot. As it happens, villages have a healthy amount of varied loot within them. Those with a blacksmith offering even more cool gear and items to those willing to rob the villagers blind.

The villagers will otherwise go about their day, usually standing about and making odd sounds. However, there is an alternative version of them, better known as illagers, who’ll pose far more risk.

Illager

An illager is a specific classification for mobs. To be one, mobs must fulfill multiple prerequisites but their actions stay similar. The illager mobs are keen on raiding and pillaging players and villagers alike. They are hostile to both and aren’t much nicer to wandering traders or iron golems.

Aside from their usual behavior, illagers also have special types. Each type of illager possesses something that makes them unique. Some cast spells, and some cause illusions, yet the strongest among them is the most simple.

An illager Vindicator in Minecraft is a regular illager equipped with an iron axe. Each of these can be quite an issue during raids but organized players should be able to take them on. They also have a small chance of dropping either a regular or an enchanted iron axe. Both are good pieces of equipment to have.

The illager Vindicator can also spawn as a raid captain, in which case they also yield an illager banner. This banner is just decorations, but it’s interesting enough to set up. Posting them up as we defeat the illager raids can also make for a striking visual.

Vindicator Behavior

The behavior of a vindicator in Minecraft is always hostile. They will also attack other targets illagers usually attack, such as iron golems, villagers, wandering traders, and even snow golems. Surprisingly enough, an idle Vindicator will be passive to the player in the Bedrock Edition of the game. This also includes an idle pose that makes it look quite a bit like the standard villager.

An attacking Vindicator will pull out its axe and sprint towards the closest enemy. Lacking an axe, the Vindicator will use unarmed hits to take the enemy down. They will also stay friendly to any illager, no matter if they accidentally hit them if you play the Java Edition.

However, in Bedrock Edition it’s possible to make Vindicator attack another illager, Pillager, by letting the latter hit them with a crossbow bolt. Should this happen, a Vindicator will attack the Pillager but the Pillager won’t fight back.

Vindicator Attacks

As mentioned, the Vindicator is the strongest of the illagers in Minecraft. This goes for both their damage and health. This illager will deal 7.5 to 19.5 points of damage on a hit, depending on the difficulty.

They tie for the third spot in dealing the most melee damage in the game, which is impressive considering how simple they are as a mob. Each location holding multiple of them is quite dangerous, especially alone.

A single hit from the Vindicator’s axe disables players’ shields for 5 seconds which can get us in quite a bit of trouble.

This trait is also present with ravagers, beasts that Vindicators can be found riding at times. However, should you face a mounted one, we advise caution as the mount and rider alike inflict this effect and deal a decent bit of damage.
