Minecraft Zoglin Guide, Attacks and Drops

Minecraft Zoglin Guide

Some mobs in the world of Minecraft will change depending on the location they find themselves in. There are some obvious examples, but the mobs from the Nether entering Overworld or the End will be far more impactful than those. One such is a Zoglin, a zombified version of Hoglin. These mobs are mostly similar to the original but with some fundamental differences. Let’s see what those are in the Minecraft Zoglin overview.

Hoglin

Hoglins are mobs that spawn in small herds around the biomes they are available in, with many potentially stacking up in some areas. They come in baby and adult forms, both of which are pretty similar in appearance. Hoglins look like boars, all the way down to attacking with their tusks. The smaller ones are more scared to attack than the big ones.

While Hoglins have a few interesting drops, these are lost when they turn into Zoglins. Their leather and pork chop drops are instead replaced with rotten flesh. Basically, the Hoglin is more fruitful to beat, while the Zoglins pose more danger. That danger will stem from the behavior and traits we’ll describe below.

Zoglin

Minecraft Zoglin is a special type of Hoglin which is created when a Hoglin enters the Overworld or the End. Upon contact with these areas, the Hoglin will start the process of zombification. It takes around 15 seconds for a Hoglin to fully transform, after which it cannot be reverted.

After being transformed, the Hoglin will heal up and get all the traits of the Zoglin. Killing them beforehand is preferred, as the drop is better. We will know if the conversion is happening by a visual effect similar to one of Nausea status, even though it has no proper effect on the target.

Zoglin Behavior

Minecraft Zoglins become undead, meaning they get all the downsides and downsides of other undead mobs. Additionally, they have baby and adult variants. It’s impossible for Zoglin to breed or reproduce, which means the ones that come to the world will be the only problem to deal with. The babies will also never grow up.

A Zoglin attacks the same targets a Hoglin does. The only difference is that it terrifies any Piglins around. When they show up, the Piglins will proceed to run far away. Zoglins are also attacked by Piglin Brutes, who won’t run away, choosing to kill Zoglins instead.

Zoglin Attacks

A Zoglin adult will charge the player. Dealing 3 to 8 damage and flinging the player up into the air. The higher the player flies, the higher the fall damage will be. This attack can push players off of ledges too so be careful.

Babies also charge the players, dealing only 0.5 damage on normal difficulty. Doing very little damage overall but being able to flock all around the player. Zoglin babies differ from Hoglin ones due to not running away on taking damage.

Zoglin Drops

Rotten flesh is a common drop from these mobs in Minecraft, no matter their age. Dropping 1 to 3 of these items is common, it can increase all the way up to 6 with maxed-out Looting too. There are no other drops apart from experience. That experience would be 5 for adults and 1 to 3 for baby Zoglins.
