Aragorn II is probably the most versatile mid-tier Commander in LOTR Rise To War and that being the reason, he has more than one build/way to play him. Aragorn II has almost everything in his skill arsenal, from damage and burst potential to sync scaling with equipment that he’s equipped with. It’s very debatable to speak about “best” build since he is that versatile, but you can easily and quickly adapt to the situation that you find yourself in with Aragorn II.
Aragorn II has great main stats and great scaling which also makes him overall one of the best mid-tier Commanders. Aragorn II is also one of the iconic characters from LOTR lore and folklore amongst the Men race, and also one of the main characters in the LOTR series. He is also known as Strider/Elessar. Aragorn II is the 16th and last Chieftain of the Dunedain of the North, and after the fall of Sauron was crowned as High King of Arnor and Gondor.
He wielded Anduril, a legendary sword reforged from shards of Narsil which once belonged to Isildur. Aragorn II is Tier 2 Commander The first thing that you need to notice and acknowledge is his base trait, “Balanced“. “Balanced” trait will give Aragorn II +25 (Commander) Might, +25 (Commander Speed), and +2 Skill points. Aragorn II’s highest stat is Might. Might increase Physical damage dealt to enemy units and Commanders.
Every time your Commander levels up you will have a skill point to spend in their skill tree. There are four main skills and thus four different focus points in Aragorn II’s skill tree which we will talk about here. Note that each of these four main skills has two additional skills connected to them which you will unlock upon leveling the main skill to level 2. On Commander Respect level 0 you will have two starting main skills.
Do not forget to check out LOTR Rise To War on pc, it will improve your gameplay, you will be able to fight enemies without lag, and enjoin beautiful graphics.
Respect level 0 Build
The first one of two starting main skills is “Anduril”. “Anduril” skill when active will give :
– (Against 2 enemy targets) Deals % Physical damage. This is a decent skill for extra damage burst. You should invest most of the skill points in this skill in the early game but you might consider leveling it simultaneously with his second main skill which we will talk about below.
Leveling both Respect 0 skills will give you both damage and defense which makes it all around great for battles and great balance between the two. Note that “Anduril” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill.
This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown. At the max level of “Anduril”, Aragorn II will receive a bonus of +15 Might points which is also very useful since it’s his highest stat. As mentioned above upon leveling the “Anduril” skill to level 2 you will unlock its two additional skills which you will be able to level up. These two skills are:
Cull the Weak: (Against an enemy target with the lowest defense) Deals % Physical damage. This skill has 1 round cooldown.
Weapons Expertise: (Commander) % chance of gaining damage +%.
These skills are pretty decent and it’s recommended to have at least 1 point spent on them.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
The second main skill is “Dunedain Chieftain” which when active will give: (Army) defence +%. Now this skill is something you should not ignore as we mentioned above and you might even prioritize this skill tree for its great Defense and damage mitigation effects, we already mentioned how great it works in synch with “Anduril” and ideally you want to have them both leveled simultaneously or at least have some points in one in case you decided to max other first.
Note that the “Dunedain Chieftain” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. Additionally, on max level of “Dunedain Chieftain” skill, army HP will increase by +2. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Dunedain Chieftan” to level 2 are:
Brawling Training: (Against enemy Melee units) Damage dealt +%.
Well-Prepared: (Melee units) When hit by enemies’ normal attack within range, perform a counterattack that deals % damage.
It’s highly recommended to max out “Well-Prepared” so your front row units can immediately counterattack as soon as they get attacked by enemies within their range.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 3 Build
Upon reaching Respect level 3 with Aragorn II you will be able to unlock and level up his third main skill called “Strider” which when active will give: Base stats from equipment +%. This skill tree is very tricky to play around it, especially if you don’t have really good equipment to give to Aragorn II.
If by this point in your gameplay you managed to gather some really good equipment, it’s worth going for this skill. It’s recommended to drop the “Anduril” skill tree and spend points in this skill tree instead, but again that is only in case you manage to get some really good equipment because with this skill it will heavily work in your favor with those +% base stats that you will get from it.
Note that “Strider” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. At the max level of the “Strider” skill, Aragorn II ignores the race restriction of all equipment, which means you can literally equip ANY item that you possess to Aragorn II. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Strider” to level 2 are:
Precise Blow: (Against 1 enemy target) Deals % Pursuit, gain Pursuit.
Raid: (Round 1) [Against 1 enemy target] Deals % Physical damage and has a % chance of dealing an additional % damage. This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
These two additional skills are very good and, if you have some “spare” skill points you might consider spending some points on these skills, “Raid” especially can be very useful.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 5 Build
And finally, upon reaching Respect level 5 with Aragorn II you will be able to unlock and level up his fourth main skill called “Hidden Heir” which will give: (Aragorn II) Skill damage +% and gain initiative during combat.
If you feel comfortable with skill points spent in “Dundedain Chieftain” and “Strider/Anduril”, then this is skill point you should be spending your skill points next. It is a very useful skill that will buff your damage and you will be able to attack sooner because you gain initiative from it. These stats raise as you level up the skill like every other main skill.
At the max level of the “Hidden Heir” ” skill, Aragorn II will receive additional +20 Speed points which will work in favor of your initiative and give you a battle advantage. Note that the “Hidden Heir” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill.
Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Hidden Heir” to level 2 are:
Sun and Moon’s Splendour: (Men) Gain Stun immunity [against Orcs and Uruk-hai] normal attack damage -%.
Nobility: (Men) Damage +%.
Although “Sun and Moon’s Splendour” will give your Men units Stun immunity against certain enemies for a price of lower damage output, you can easily bring back damage with “Nobility”, It’s not recommended to invest points in these skills unless you need that Stun immunity, in that case, 1 point in of these skills each will suffice.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
