In LOTR Rise To War Hirgon is one of the decent stat-wise and best F-tier Commanders when it comes to Good Side and tier 1 Commanders with decent stats for Might and Speed. Unfortunately what makes Hirgon F tier Commanders is his stat scaling and second base trait which is Tip Master, although he does have a very good set of skills and he is worth using until you get a better Commander.
Hirgon is Tier 1 Commander and the first thing that you need to notice and acknowledge is his base trait which is “Warrior”. The ”Warrior” trait will give Hirgon +25 (Commander) Might, +2 Skill points and 10% bonus (Commander) Physical damage. Hirgon’s highest stat is “Speed”. Speed stat has 3 effects, firstly it increases the Commander’s turn order in battle.
Secondly, It increases each unit’s speed in battle and lastly, it increases the army’s march speed on the world map. Whenever your Commander levels up you will have a skill point to spend in their skill tree. There are four main skills and thus four different focus points in Hirgon’s skill tree which we will talk about here.
Note that each of these four main skills has two additional skills connected to them which you will unlock upon leveling the main skill to level 2. On Commander Respect level 0 you will have two starting main skills.
Respect level 0 Build
The first one of two starting main skills is “Devotion”. “Devotion” skill when active will give (Against 2 enemy targets) Deals % Physical damage, but Commander’s Might -amount for 1 round.
Now, this isn’t considered to be a good skill since it deals mediocre damage and can heavily debuff your Commander, you should probably put 2 points in this skill to unlock 2 connecting skills and focus on “Herald” in the early game which we will speak about below. Additionally, at the “Devotion” skill max level, Hirgon will receive a bonus +15 Might points.
This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown. Note that the “Devotion” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. As mentioned above upon leveling the “Devotion” skill to level 2 you will unlock its two additional skills which you will be able to level up.
These two skills are:
– Cleave : (Against 1 enemy target) Deals % Physical damage (effect modified by Speed stat). This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
– Gallant : (Commander) Might +%, (Commander) Speed +%.
Both of these skills can be very useful, and you should put some points on them since they provide both buffs for your Commander’s Might and Speed, and some burst damage.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
The second main skill is called “Herald” which when active will give: Time needed to complete tips -%. Now, some other Commanders share similar skills like this one, and needless to say, it’s useless for battle but if you want to level up Hirgon faster and gain EXP from tips rather than sending him to battle, you might spend some points on this skill.
Consider spending at least 2 points on this skill regardless of the way you choose to level him up because of the two connecting skills we will mention below. Additionally, at the “Devotion” skill max level, Hirgon will receive bonus +15 Speed points.
– Logistics : Siege +amount.
– March : (Army) March Speed +%.
Both of these skills can be very useful, of course, it depends on your situation and needs, but you should consider building Hirgon as tip/mobility/siege type Commander.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 3 Build
Upon reaching Respect level 3 with Hirgon You will be able to unlock and level up his third main skill called “Red Arrow” which when active will give: (2 Allied units) Recover % HP (effect modified by Speed stat), and the next damage dealt +% (effect modified by Speed stat)
This skill should be your focus point in mid-game.
It is a great skill because it gives both burst and sustain and on top of it, stats scale based on Speed stat which is Hirgon’s highest stat. If you want to build Hirgon as a battle Commander you should max this skill. Note that “Red Arrow ” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill.
Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of the “Red Arrow” skill, Hirgon will receive additional +15 Focus points.
This skill has 2 round cooldowns. Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Red Arrow” to level 2 are:
– Reinforcement : (2 allied units) [From round 7 onwards] Recover % HP each round.
– Phalanx : (Melee units) Physical damage received -%
Both of these skills are great sustain/mitigation skills, depending on your situation, if your units (especially melee units) are being toppled, you might consider spending some skill points on these two skills.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 5 Build
And finally, upon reaching Respect level 5 with Hirgon you will be able to unlock and level up his fourth main skill called “Warden” which gives : (Allied army) % chance of avoiding the first instance of Damage. This is a skill tree to bounce back and forth depending on your needs, for example in case you must face a Commander that relies on first-round Damage buffs.
Note that “Warden” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of “Warden” skill, Avoidance buff extends by 1 use.
Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Warden” to level 2 are:
– Collaboration: (Self) Normal attacks cause an additional % Physical damage.
– Defensive Stance: (Against 1 enemy target) Deals % Physical damage, (1 allied unit) next damage received -% (Effect modified by Might stat). This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
These two additional skills are very good and useful so it is highly recommended to spend some points in “Warden” to gain access to these skills.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
