Minecraft Evoker Guide, Attacks and Drops

Minecraft Evoker Guide

The mobs of Minecraft will vary greatly in power. Depending on the mob, we could find more troublesome fights despite them being a seemingly low threat. Evokers are a great example of that as they look similar to some of the illager mobs but have far more powerful abilities. So let’s dive into mob abilities with Minecraft Evoker.

Evoker

The Evoker is one of the illager mobs in Minecraft. With the plentiful variations illagers have, it is among the most dangerous ones. They have quite a few attacks, which we will go through below.

Evokers are regular-sized, but their formidable attacks make them far more troublesome. These mobs will spawn at set locations within Woodland Mansions. These structures will have a few special units in as well as a slew of illagers to chew through. Evokers will also spawn in raids, at least those with five waves or more. The fifth wave is when they begin to spawn, which makes harder raids exponentially more difficult.

Evoker Attacks

Evokers have multiple options in combat. First, this mob will sprint toward the player and attempt to cast its fang attack. This attack hits in a long line, damaging the player for 6 damage if they connect. Fangs are the main way of attacking that Evoker has, along with its alternate attack formation.

In the alternate formation, fangs will spawn in two circles around the Evoker that do damage. This attack will only occur if the Evoker is close to the player, usually only a few blocks away.

After using this attack, the Evoker will take 2 seconds before casting another spell and 5 seconds before it can cast another fang attack. The player can use both of these gaps to attack the mob and even dispatch it depending on the damage we can do.

Of course, this isn’t the only attack Evokers have. Another is summoning Vexes. Vex is a summonable creature Evokers can bring into a fight. Vex is a flying mob that can phase through walls and wields an iron sword. Iron swords they wield deal 5.5 damage and have a chance to drop in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. These will be potent allies to the Evoker and can mess up the combat against them.

Java Edition also allows Evokers to combine these two attacks. While spawning a Vex, the Evoker will cast the fang attack around it should the player try to attack. It functions the same as a regular fang attack regarding damage and effects.

Evoker Drops

Evokers are dangerous but also quite rewarding to kill in Minecraft. Downing one will get us a special item called the totem of undying. This item will always drop, one per Evoker killed. While holding the totem of undying in the off-hand, we will be able to resurrect once. Upon resurrection, we will get half a heart back, regeneration, resistance to fire, and some absorption. Once this effect activates, the totem will disappear from our inventory.

Emerald can also drop, initially ranging from 0 to 1. Stacking up to 4 if you get the Looting enchantment leveled up. It’s a nice extra drop aside from the totem of undying.

If they lead a raid, Evokers will also drop an illager banner. Again, exclusively serves as a decoration, which is another nice extra drop for a difficult fight.
