We all had that experience in Minecraft where we went on a PVP and PVE spree at night, slaying everything in sight, only to realize that our helmet, chest plate, leggings, and boots were bright red. At that point, you have to quit our mob-hunting adventure and begin mining adventure to find 31 iron ingots for an anvil so you can repair items.
Anvils are a great way of preserving your items and stacking effects and repairing items in Minecraft. That’s exactly what I’ll talk about today – repairing items+combining effects. Let’s start!
Crafting table
To repair items in Minecraft, simply place two of the same kind on the crafting table. This will result in the creation of a single tool with increased durability from the combination of two tools.
It looks like this:
You should be aware that pairing an enchanted object with another enchanted item—or a non-enchanted item—will nullify any enchantments on the newly created item.
Example:
Knowing these things is helpful because it can be painful to have some significant enchantments on an item just to mistakenly remove them. Knowing about this mechanic should help you comprehend how to use a crafting table to fix things.
Anvil is needed to Repair Items
Anvils are utilized to repair goods as well, but this time you are also permitted to combine or increase enchantments by merging items together. Of course, you could combine two non-enchanted objects in the anvil to create a more durable item.
A picture of crafting two enchanted items together:
As you can see, the two pickaxes will be combined into one with stronger enchantments and greater durability.
You can also combine tools with their crafting components to repair your things. Let’s say that if you want to fix your wooden shovel, you’re gonna need a shovel+wood plank. Here’s an example:
The same thing applies to other tools. If you’re gonna fix a diamond pickaxe, you’ll need 1 diamond, for example.
As I’ve previously mentioned, combining items of the same type will simply increase their durability. An identical mechanism to the crafting table, although the crafting table doesn’t cost you levels.
An example of crafting two items of the same type together:
Grindstone
The grindstone is another tool that’s used to fix items, as well as disenchant them. You can steal it from a village or just simply craft it, all you need is:
- x2 wooden planks
- x2 sticks
- x1 stone slab
To repair items on the grindstone, you simply need two put items of the same type in the crafting spots. Nothing new, same stuff as with the anvil. Example:
One thing that you should be aware of is that if you combine two damaged items together, you’re gonna get a repair bonus. (70+70=153, instead of 140 durability).
Summary
Three tools that you can utilize to fix your stuff have been covered. We’ve talked about how to utilize them, how they operate, and what to stay away from to prevent losing helpful enchantments.
