Best Enchantments For Crossbows In Minecraft

Best Enchantments For Crossbows In Minecraft

Crossbows are more powerful than bows in Minecraft, but they take a little longer to reload. They can be found on hostile mobs like Piglins or Pillagers, with or without enchantments, and they can be damaged to some extent. You can fire projectiles such as arrows from crossbows and, amusingly, fireworks.

Of course, you can put an enchantment on your crossbow as well. There are six of them in total, and they all have different effects. My task for today is to explain each enchantment, how they work, and which one is ultimately the best for Crossbows In Minecraft. List is ranked from worst to best.

What Are The Best Enchantments for Crossbows In Minecraft

  1. Curse of Vanishing
  2. Piercing
  3. Mending
  4. Unbreaking
  5. Multishot
  6. Quick Charge

Curse of Vanishing

Why would anyone put this enchantment on their crossbow? I’m not sure, but you’re probably wondering what it does. It causes your items to vanish after you die; you cannot recover them by returning to the location where you died. Straight garbage, you’re more likely of finding items with this enchantment on in various temples, chests, and many other locations.

The maximum level of this enchantment is I.

Piercing

Piercing Enchantments For Crossbows

This enchantment causes your arrows to penetrate hostile mobs, allowing you to injure/kill multiple mobs at the same time. It forces you to line up your enemies in order to make the most of this enchantment. It’s also worth noting that the durability of your crossbow isn’t affected as much because you can kill two or more enemies with a single, well-placed shot.

The maximum level of this enchantment is IV.

Mending

Mending Enchantments For Crossbows

This enchantment causes your crossbow to fix itself upon receiving experience orbs. If you enjoy firing your crossbow from a long distance, you’ll have to walk to the location where you killed a hostile mob to get the experience orbs – it can get pretty annoying but this is still a nice enchantment to have!

The maximum level of this enchantment is I.

Unbreaking

Your crossbow loses one point of durability every time you fire it. The goal of this enchantment is to increase the durability of your crossbow by up to 300%, depending on the level of the enchantment. This enchantment is also pretty common, you’ll be able to find it in chests, destroyed ships, temples, and many other locations.

The maximum level of this enchantment is III. Each level gives a 100% bonus to durability!

Multishot

This enchantment allows your crossbow to fire three arrows instead of one. It deals massive amounts of damage to both players and hostile mobs, sometimes killing them in one go if you’re lucky.

On the other hand, this enchantment reduces the durability of your crossbow by three points per arrow shot, without this enchantment it’s just one point. You can, however, enchant your crossbow with Unbreaking III to mitigate this effect.

Quick Charge

Quick Charge Enchantments For Crossbows

Reloading crossbows can take a long time, which is dangerous in situations where you are constantly attacked by hostile mobs or players. Quick Charge allows you to reload your crossbow faster, making it one of the most useful enchantments to have when combined with other enchantments like Multishot or Piercing.

The maximum level of this enchantment is III, plus each level decreases your crossbow’s reload speed by 0,25 seconds.

In summary:

We have done our best to describe the crossbow and its enchantments. I hope you enjoyed reading our article and have a wonderful rest of your day!

Frequently asked questions about crossbows

What’s the default reload speed of the crossbow?

The crossbow’s default reload time is 1.25 seconds, but it can be reduced by 0.75 seconds with the Quick Charge enchantment.

Bows or crossbows?

Crossbows. Any day. They deal more damage and have much more fun enchantments. The crossbow has only two flaws: the reload speed, which can be improved, and the crafting recipe, which requires significantly more material than the bow.

Can I fire more than just arrows?

Funnily enough, you can also shoot fireworks, they travel further and faster. They will still take 3 points of durability though.
