Maltök is one of the worst stat-wise and worst F-tier Commanders when it comes to Mordor faction and tier 1 Commanders with below-average stats for all 3 main stats. He does possess somewhat of a redeeming skillset but stat-wise he is rightfully on the very bottom when it comes to Commanders overall.
n LOTR Rise To War Maltök is Tier 1 Commander and the first thing that you need to notice and acknowledge is his base trait which is “Leader”. “Leader” trait will give Maltök +5 Command. Maltök’s highest stat is “Speed”. Speed stat has 3 effects, firstly it increases the Commander’s turn order in battle. secondly, It increases each unit’s speed in battle and lastly, it increases the army’s march speed on the world map.
Whenever your Commander levels up you will have a skill point to spend in their skill tree. There are four main skills and thus four different focus points in Maltök’s skill tree which we will talk about here. Note that each of these four main skills has two additional skills connected to them which you will unlock upon leveling the main skill to level 2.
Respect level 0 Build
On Commander Respect level 0 you will have two starting main skills.
The first one of two starting main skills is “Pursuer”. “Pursuer” skill when active will give:(Self) bonus % damage against all enemy units while attacking. Each time you level up this skill the total % of bonus damage will rise.
This should be your focus point in the early game and you should max both the main skill and its two connecting skills. At the max level of the “Pursuer” skill, the active bonus will be applied to “Pursuer” where damage bonus effects will get modified by Speed, where two additional skills connected to some of the main skills will play their role.
As mentioned above upon leveling the “Pursuer” skill to level 2 you will unlock its two additional skills which you will be able to level up. These two skills are:
Deepen Wounds: (Against 1 enemy target) Deals % of Physical damage and next damage received +% debuff (effect modified by Might stat). This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
Overwhelm: (Against the unit with the lowest defense) Deals % of Physical damage and an additional % of Physical damage after 1 round. This skill has 2 rounds cooldown as well.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
The second main skill is called “Easterling” which when active will give:
(Commander) Normal attacks cause enemy stats -% for 1 round. This is a skill tree to focus on if your units need more damage mitigation and if you prefer debuffing enemy units as your fighting tactic.
You can combine it with “Pursuer” so you have both damage and mitigation/debuff skills. Note that “Easterling” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill.
Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of “Easterling” skill, Maltök will receive additional +15 Might points.
Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Easterling” to level 2 are:
Evil Alliance: (Evil Men and Orcs) Damage received -%.
Iron Guard: +% chance of reducing Physical damage received by %amount.
These skills are great for damage mitigation and especially to mitigate Physical damage that your Orc or Evil Men units might get hit with, it is recommended to put some skill points
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 3 Build
Upon reaching Respect level 3 with Maltök you will be able to unlock and level up his third main skill “Interrogator” which gives: (Enemies Stunned or Subject to Madness) Damage received +% for 1 round. Additionally “Interrogator” skill at max will receive a bonus for which damage bonus effect will be modified by Speed.
Not much to say about this skill, since it’s neither damage nor buff skill and on top of that it’s modified by Speed at max level, you should avoid this skill unless you want to max out its two connected skills as well, in that case, it can be good, but that path requires a lot of skill points. This skill has 2 rounds of cooldown.
Note that “Interrogator” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill. As mentioned above upon leveling the “Interrogator” skill to level 2 you will unlock its two additional skills which you will be able to level up.
These two skills are:
- Laceration: (Each Round) [Against 1 enemy target] Inflicts Bleeding, causing the target to suffer % Physical damage (Continuous) for 3 rounds. This skill has 3 rounds of cooldown.
- Restrain: (Against 2 enemy targets) % chance of being Stunned for 1 round. This skill has 3 rounds of cooldown.
It is highly recommended to put some points on both of these skills since they provide insane Burn damage burst against multiple targets.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
Respect level 5 Build
And finally, upon reaching Respect level 5 with Maltök you will be able to unlock and level up his fourth main skill “Warg Trainer” which will give: (Allies with Wargs) damage dealt +%. This should be your focus point in late-game especially since you will want to and will be recruiting Warg units for sure, this is a huge buff for them and it can change the course of battle.
Like every other main skill, these stats rise as you level up the skill. At the max level of “Warg Trainer” skill, Orcs will become Immune to Madness. Note that the “Warg Trainer” skill is referenced as a “title” rather than “skill” which essentially means once it’s unlocked and you have a skill point in it, it will act as a passive skill.
Two additional skills that you will unlock upon leveling “Warg Trainer” to level 2 are:
Warg Healing: (Round 5) [Allied units with Wargs] Recover % of HP (effect modified by Focus stat)
Beast Taming: (Units with Wargs) Defense +%.
It is highly recommended to put some points on both of these skills since they give damage and defense boost for your Warg units.
Naturally, effect stats % rise as you level up addressed skills.
