How to Fast Travel in Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves now features a fast travel mechanic, offering a quicker way to navigate the game’s expansive map. Previously, you would launch expeditions using your ship’s Quest Table, right? But since Season 11, Raid Voyages have been added, transforming the table into a hub where you can select your adventure and teleport directly to your quest’s location. Very cool.

Here’s how it works: You need to be out at sea—not hanging out on an island. At the Quest Table, select a quest and hit “Dive to Location.” Your ship does a cool energy animation and dives underwater. Wait about 30 seconds, and you’ll arrive at your quest’s starting point.

If your quest has multiple possible locations, the game will randomly pick one for you. Keep in mind, after fast traveling once, you’ll need to sail manually if you want to move further around the map.

Strategic Considerations for Fast Travel

Here’s something important: if you fast travel while carrying treasure, you’ll lose it—it gets left behind where you dived. However, your Emissary Flags and levels stay intact. If you’re loaded with treasure, you’ll need to plan accordingly.

Also, there’s a cooldown after fast traveling, lasting about seven to ten minutes. This prevents players from zipping around endlessly and ensures sailing remains a key part of the game.

Fast Travel’s Role in Questing and Exploration

Fast travel is a huge benefit for players who don’t have all day to play Sea of Thieves. It gets you straight into the action or helps you progress quickly with the Trading Companies.

For Tall Tales fans, it’s a convenient shortcut to the start of story quests. Just select your Tall Tale, dive, and you’re off. However, fast traveling puts you on a different server, giving you a fresh start each time you surface.
